Chameleons

The Cape Chameleons are unique in that they are viviparous (they do not lay eggs).
In former days they were common in Cape gardens, but of recent years they have become scarce.
I lived here in Wynberg for two years without seeing one, then suddenly they appeared in the garden from nowhere. We have seen up to 5 different ones in a day, of all sizes. A couple of weeks ago there were two new ones, fully grown, that appeared every day for a while. Now they too are gone, having disappeared as mysteriously as they came.
